Industrial Safety Supplies

Below is a collection of industrial safety supplies I have standardized throughout the facilities I support. Most of the links go to Amazon. Corporate has a “leveraged spend” relationship with Amazon, and we are encouraged to buy safety supplies from them (and Grainger).

Eyewash Stations

When I first assumed the role of maintenance manager at my current job, I was stunned by the busy work the previous maintenance manager had assigned to the janitorial staff. One of the first items I changed was the inspection and maintenance of the eyewash stations. Before converting to the Honeywell Fendall Pure Flow 1000 eyewash stations, the janitorial team was draining the reservoirs into garbage cans, wheeling the trash cans to a janitorial closet to be dumped, and mixing new solution in jugs that sat unprotected on a shelf. Scary stuff.

The cartridge-based Honeywell Fendall Pure Flow 1000 Eyewash Stations make the task simple. Insert a fresh cartridge per the instructions, inspect the eyewash stations according to your schedule, and replace the cartridge before its expiration date. The process is simple and safe.

The Honeywell Fendall Pure Flow 1000 Primary Emergency Eye Wash Station uses a 3.5-gallon (13.2 L) cartridge to deliver 15 minutes of uninterrupted flushing, with a fluid flow rate of 0.4 gpm (1.5 L) to meet current ANSI standards. The saline eye wash solution is purified and pH-balanced, superior to tap water, which may contain harmful bacteria or contaminants.

Operation is fast and easy for emergency situations as the sure-grip handle provides instant, simple activation. The unique nozzle design delivers a soft, gravity-fed “ribbon” of saline eye wash, leaving hands free to hold eyelids open. The nozzles cover a wide area around the eyes to effectively remove chemicals and particles.

Since no plumbing is required, this eye wash station can be located near most workplace hazards. This allows your workplace to meet ANSI regulations, which require an emergency eye wash station to be accessible within a 10-second walk of any hazard.

Placement is easy, as the unit can be mounted to a wall with a single bracket or made fully mobile when paired with a universal cart or stand. The Fendall Pure Flow 1000 is also extremely cost-effective: the 24-month cartridge life (from the date of manufacture) is at least four times longer than that of other primary self-contained eyewash devices, which saves time and money on replacements and inspections.

The cartridge is also RFID-enabled to simplify inspection, maintenance, and inventory control, which helps support and strengthen workplace safety programs. Maintenance is easy as the factory-sealed fluid cartridges eliminate the need to mix and measure and the opportunity for airborne particles or microorganisms to contaminate the fluid before use. The Honeywell Fendall Pure Flow 1000 also captures waste fluid to eliminate spill hazards and simplify fluid disposal. The integral valve at the bottom allows easy draining of the reservoir after use.
